Physical Conditioning

Bei Pellegrini means beautiful pilgrims, and traditionally pilgrims have walked to their destinations. Different trips require different levels of fitness. Please be sure that you make the appropriate trip selection for your fitness level. The trips are clearly marked to the level of fitness that is required. Many trips, you will not be asked to walk everywhere, but the only way to truly discover a culture, a village or market is by getting out and walking, looking, smelling and experiencing it. To make the most of your journey and participate in various planned group activities, you should be able to stroll unassisted up to three miles in three hours (often up and down hills and over uneven cobblestones). The trips have been planned to allow you free time to explore on your own, at your own pace. It is the responsibility of each guest to be aware of his or her physical abilities, and sign up for an appropriate trip that matches your fitness level. It is not mandatory for guests to participate in every planned and included group activity. Although it is not mandatory to participate in every planned activity, including meals, not doing so isn’t cause for a refund. Questions? Please review your itinerary or call the office.

Attitude/Travel Mentality

It is very important to remember that the places where we travel have been inhabited for thousands of years and most buildings are much older than America itself. It is not our mission to give you an “American Experience” while traveling with us. You will be immersed in the local cultures - curiosity, a sense of adventure and an ability to laugh at yourself is essential.

Luggage

Packing light is an art and science. The lighter you pack, the more you can explore the area you are traveling in. You should be able to comfortably manage your luggage over short distances (up and down stairs, over cobblestones and gravel). The accommodations we choose may or may not have porters, and although we will assist you as we are able, you must be prepared to manage your own luggage.

The Nature of Bei Pellegrini Tours

While your guide will personally escort you to many of the most delightful sights on your chosen trip, you will have the opportunity to walk on your own, with your companion or the group. Some of the trips you will be walking most of the day on your own. A plan will be laid out at the beginning of the day, so you will know the destination and sites to look for during the day. This allows you to customize your discovery of the regions or cities that you will be visiting. To get the most out of the adventure, you need to be enthusiastic about exploring on your own, or with new found friends from the group.

Trip Accommodations

Bei Pellegrini strives to find unique, beautiful, and restful accommodations. There are a variety of country inns, bed and breakfasts, villas, chateaux, castles and charming hotels. All rooms will be smaller than American style accommodations. Please note that because we choose to stay in quaint family run hotels, rooms may vary in size and décor. Many countries have passed legislation which prohibits smoking. You may smoke outside, away from the group.

Children

Bei Pellegrini is geared toward adult tastes and sensibilities. Therefore, children are welcome if over 14 years of age. An adult must accompany children younger than 18 at all times while with the group.

Tour Itinerary

Tour itineraries are subject to change. Travel is always full of surprise. No changes in your itinerary are expected, but your guide reserves the right to make them if necessary. Uncompleted portions of the tour itinerary are not cause for a refund. We reserve the right to amend typos and misprints in pricing and group size. Our goal is to provide a small-shared group experience and Bei Pellegrini will make every effort to limit the group to the size stated in our itinerary. However, to insure the departure of an expedition at the stated price, Bei Pellegrini has found it necessary to overbook a trip by 2 – 3 people in order to anticipate the possibility of numerous individual cancellations.

Disabilities

Any pre–existing physical, mental or emotional disability that may require attention must be reported in writing prior to the beginning of the tour. Each tour member must complete and return our confidential Medical Form, which is included in your confirmation packet.

Travel Insurance

Bei Pellegrini’s policy is that all travelers have travel insurance with a medical evacuation option. This also prevents the potential loss of the cost of the trip if you have to cancel due to an unforeseen emergency. We will give you a list of potential insurers in your confirmation packet.

Air Travel

Air travel to and from the trip destination is not included. Please note that Bei Pellegrini is not an agent for air travel and is unable to accept credit card payment for the air portion of your journey.

Tipping

Gratuities are covered in the cost of the trip for guides, drivers, dining room servers and local specialists while you are traveling with the group. Feel free to reward outstanding service with an additional tip, gift or card.

Single Supplement

Single accommodations can be requested by paying a single supplement fee; these are limited and based on availability. There will be no extra charge, providing that you are willing to share a room (same gender room-mate) and a rooming partner is available. We are willing to assist in finding you a rooming partner. Single supplement varies from trip to trip.

No Curmudgeons

Bei Pellegrini’s primary concern is the safety of its customers and staff. Occasionally the behavior of a passenger can make others feel uncomfortable. In the extreme case, abuse towards a staff member, fellow passenger or local citizen may end with the offending person having to leave the trip. If a trip is terminated due to bad behavior, the offending passenger will not be offered a refund for the portion of the trip missed.

Reservations and Deposits

Early reservations are essential to guarantee space on the date you wish travel. A $500.00 USD per person deposit is required to confirm your space. Payment may be made by check or credit card, we accept Visa and MasterCard, or money order. You can make your credit card deposit by phone or by mail. Deposits for trips are refundable for six weeks from the day we receive them, minus a $50.00 processing fee, per guest. If the deposit is received within six weeks of the trip departure no refund can be given.
Note: A larger deposit may be required for trips with a specialized itinerary.

Trip costs

Prices listed on our website, in our newsletters or promotional pieces, are in U.S. Dollars. Tour price is based on double occupancy and includes the services specified in the itineraries plus optional activities listed. Prices do not include services and meals not listed specifically in the itineraries, passports or other travel documents, air or other transportation to and from tour start and ending points (unless otherwise stated in tour itinerary), vaccinations where required or personal expenses such as laundry, medical insurance and communications. We endeavor to keep land costs as published, however, since our trips are planned a year or more in advance, we reserve the right to change land costs due to circumstances beyond our control, including fluctuations in currency exchange rates. Land cost is usually based on 10 — 18 full paying trip members.

General Responsibilities and things you should know

Bei Pellegrini acts only as an agent for the passenger with respect to transportation and hotels and exercises every care possible. However, we can assume no liability for injury, damage, delay, loss, accident or irregularity in collection with the services of any airplane, ship, motor coach, train or other conveyance used in carrying out the arrangements of the tour. We cannot accept responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike, acts of terrorism, war, quarantine, acts of God or other causes beyond our control. All such losses and expenses will have to be borne by the passenger, as tour rates provide for arrangement only for the time stated. The right is reserved to cancel the tour prior to departure, in which case the entire payment will be refunded without further obligation on our part. We also reserve the right to decline to accept or to retain any person as a member of the tour, or to require a participant to withdraw from the tour at their own expense when such an action is determined by tour staff to be in the best interest of the participant’s health and safety, and that of the tour group in general. No refund will be made for the unused portion of any tour unless arrangements are made in time to avoid penalties. Bei Pellegrini does not accept liability for any airline carrier’s cancellation penalty or change fee incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket connected with the tour.
